Jane Addams Middle School
Jane Addams Middle School, which is often referred to as JAMS, was reopened in 2014 as a comprehensive neighborhood middle school serving sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. The building has an interesting history starting with it opening as a junior high school in the Shoreline School District in 1949. It was annexed into Seattle Public Schools in 1954, and eventually became a middle school in 1979, when ninth graders were moved to high school. In 1985 it closed due to declining enrollment, and over the years saw a variety of uses, including some alternative education concepts, until reopening in its current iteration today. JAMS has an enrollment of about 950 students and is home to the Jaguars.
